These were gone out of print but Fukkan.com started negotiations with Ms. Mizuki about to republish the novels in May 2002. Kodansha Ltd. rejected the offer because they were fed up that Igarashi is always making trouble about Candy.
Then, a hardcover book was republished in 2003 by BOOK-ing, Inc.
The total of royalties on the book of the first edition 1,500 copies amounts to 275,500yen, Ms. Nagita made a donation of the total of her profits to Jiai-En Social Services Center.

Igarashi has no right to condemn republication of the novel, but disgusting manga artist picked a quarrel with Ms. Nagita. *SIGH*

CANDY CANDY is registered TM of TOEI.
There're various reasons why they made a decision.
Firstly, Igarashi ignored TOEI's TM right and distributed illegal Candy goods, the illegal goods were spread like an infectious disease while she gained time by several years of legal proceedings. It is great trouble to make a clean sweep of the illegal goods.
Secondly, TOEI gave Ms. Mizuki recognition as the original author of Candy Candy from the start but Igarashi, one of the authors of the anime, denies Ms. Mizuki's copyright even now.
Thirdly, needless to say, Candy Candy isn't the only work of TOEI, they work with many manga writers and artists. Manga writers hate Igarashi who impaired the dignity of them, TOEI doesn't care to incur popular manga writers' distrust.
And probably, TOEI doesn't want any more to do with a swindler like her---who wants to work together with the habitual contract breaker?
